C19th Welsh lip work basket
A fine Welsh lip work basket. Wheat straw was used in parts of Wales for the production of many household objects from baskets and bee skeps to chairs. This tradition can also be seen in other parts of Britain and Ireland using rushes. This particular piece is probably from Cardiganshire and is in good, stable condition
