Primitive Boarded wall cupboard

£0.00
sold out

A small and very attractive boarded wall cupboard of primitive form, made predominantly in oak with fruitwood top and bottom rails and top and bottom boards. The shelved interior has Demi lune shaping. The original iron hinges survive as does the original lock which is not functioning but moot as the door has shrunk with time, an oak latch has long since replaced its function. The condition is good but with historic worm damage to the top back and bottom boards, the bottom board has been covered with hessian. The worm is long extinct and I have treated it as an added precaution. The patina is extraordinary, graduating from a dark ruby to black and with a wonderful surface.

Welsh or English 1680-1720

Height 60.5 cm ( 23 3/4”)

Width 45.5 cm ( 18”)

Depth 21 cm ( 8 1/4’)
