Ship wreck Bellarmine jug

£0.00
sold out

A wonderful documented Bellarmine jug found during a dive off the coast of Lowestoft in the 1970s. It retains many barnacles yet the body is in remarkably good order with no cracks or restorations. The face is naive and characterful with corn husk eyebrows, it has the heart and flower crest which is often found in shipwrecked pieces and is thought to be a possible love token to a departing sailor. A very characterful and historically interesting piece.

Former collection of the Bellermine museum, Swaffham
